ONE Championship returned to action on Friday, October 15 with the all-kickboxing card First Strike.
The event was topped by a Kickboxing World Championship fight between Italy’s Giorgio Petrosyan and Thailand’s Superbon, with ONE’s inaugural featherweight kickboxing title on the line.
Petrosyan, well known as one of the greatest pure strikers of all time in combat sports, boasted over 100 wins to his name. A former K-1 and Glory tournament winner, Petrosyan had also won ONE Championship’s 2019 featherweight world grand prix. All that was left was to capture the undisputed title in the promotion.
Superbon Banchamek likewise held over 100 wins, and had claimed kickboxing and Muay Thai titles around the globe. That included gold medals at the Muay Thai World Championships in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Superbon had made his promotional debut for ONE last year, debuting in a trilogy fight with Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, which he won.
