A banger of a featherweight match-up has been booked for the UFC’s upcoming December 18 Fight Night card.
The fight will see fan-favorite Cub Swanson take on the always game Darren Elkins at the event. Cageside Press confirmed the booking Friday, after it was added to UFCstats.com.
Swanson (27-12) had a two-fight win streak snapped in his last outing, when he came up short against the surging Giga Chikadze. Swanson was finished by the Georgian in just over a minute. Prior to that, “Killer” Cub had earned a unanimous decision over Kron Gracie, and knocked out Daniel Pineda. The Gracie fight earned Swanson a Fight of the Night bonus.
Elkins (26-9) has won two straight. In a Performance of the Night effort against Darrick Minner at UFC Vegas 32, Elkins picked up the second-round TKO after surviving a number of submission attempts in the opening round.
The UFC’s December 18 Fight Night event does not have an official venue, location, or broadcast plan announced. However, as has been the case for all Fight Night events in 2021, the UFC Apex in Las Vegas appears to be the likely destination.
Thus far, the following bouts have been reported for the card:
