Prediction

Oliveira hasn’t fought someone like Alday, with his lion-hearted will and pressure. Alday, a former Combate Americas champ, has been in there with a few good fighters. He even has wins over UFC fighters in Gustavo Lopez and John Castañeda.

Oliveira poses a threat everywhere this fight can go. On the feet, Alday is a bit better. He’s only a bit better because he fails to put it together and throw combinations. Still, throwing single strikes, Alday engages quite a bit. His failure to use set-ups and put twos and threes together are a reason he’s gone to a split decision a few times mind you. Oliveira has a volume advantage but more so is too wild and throws a lot of wasted energy.

I believe Alday is the better fighter and under these bright lights, look for him to get right after it. The best chance for Oliveira is to submit Alday but Alday has some credible submission defense. He could catch Alday but from what I’ve seen he doesn’t have the capability. The pick is Alday.
