Two former members of the Bellator featherweight grand prix, not to mention former title challengers, will face off at Bellator 270 this fall.
On Thursday, promotion officials announced via press release that Pedro Carvalho (11-5) would face Daniel Weichel (41-12) at the event, set for Dublin, Ireland on November 5, 2021. Also announced on Thursday, Ireland’s own Charlie Ward (9-4) will take on Norbert ‘Magic’ Novenyi Jr. (5-0).
Carvalho enters his fight with Weichel looking to bounce back from two straight losses. The featherweight fell to champ Patricio Pitbull early in the grand prix, knocked out in under a round. In his very next fight, he’d suffer a second-round TKO at the hands of Jay Jay Wilson.
Prior to those losses, Carvalho had won six straight.
Weichel has fared better of late, and is 2-1 in his last three fights. The German veteran defeated Saul Rogers in the opening round of the featherweight grand prix, only to be eliminated by Emmanuel Sanchez. He bounced back in June, picking up a win over Keoni Diggs.
Bellator 270, a.k.a. Bellator Dublin, will once again take place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The show will be broadcast on Showtime in the U.S., the BBC iPlayer in the UK, and Virgin Media Two as well as Virgin Media Sport in Ireland. Canadian fans can catch all the action free via Youtube.
