Latvian-Canadian Misha Cirkunov is leaving the light heavyweight division to try his hand at a new weight class.
On Tuesday, UFC officials announced via social media that Cirkunov (15-6) would face Krzysztof Jotko in a middleweight fight at the promotion’s October 2 Fight Night event. The fight will mark the first time the 34-year old has competed at 185lbs.
Across his last four fights, Cirkunov, 34, has posted a 2-2 record, with wins over Patrick Cummins and Jimmy Crute, while losing to Johnny Walker and Ryan Spann. The Spann loss came in Cirkunov’s most recent fight, at UFC Vegas 21 in March.
Jotko (22-5) is 3-1 in his last four fights. He had a three-fight win streak snapped in his last outing, at the hands of the surging Sean Strickland. Prior to that, Jotko had claimed victories over Eryk Anders, Marc-André Barriault, and Alen Amedovski.
The UFC’s October 2 event is expected to once again take place at their Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The following fights have been reported for the card thus far:
