The official (early) weigh-in for UFC 263: Adesanya vs. Vettori 2 went down Friday morning in Arizona, and despite some drama, all the key fights are intact.
Only one fighter missed weight on Friday: Steven Peterson missed the featherweight limit by 2.5lbs. That should not, however, keep him out of his bout with Chase Hooper. The more intense drama during weigh-ins was surrounding Deiveson Figueiredo. Early on in the window came rumblings of a rough weight cut, likely fuelled by his appearance at Thursday’s pre-fight press conference.
As time ticked away and Figueiredo still had not hit the scales, the rumors hit a fever pitch: the “God of War” would miss weight. Only Brandon Moreno would be eligible for the title.
It didn’t happen. Figueiredo was last to weigh in, looking a bit drawn and shaky. He needed the barrier to hit the mark, but he did make championship weight. Brad Riddell, the other fighter to hit the scales late in the window, just before Figueiredo, hit the lightweight limit spot on.
