Coming off a Performance of the Night TKO of JP Buys in March, flyweight Bruno Silva was looking to make it two in a row at UFC Vegas 27 on Saturday. Standing in his way was Victor Rodriguez, looking for his first win inside the octagon after suffering a head kick KO loss to Adrian Yanez in his debut.
Both fighters took the center of the octagon and felt each other out for the first 30 seconds. They both threw jabs but missed. Silva threw a big right hand that seemed to land and get Rodriguez’s attention. Silva clinched and landed a knee to the body, which made Rodriguez pull away. Silva then landed a perfect right hand down the middle, which made Rodriguez crumble to the ground. Silva pounced on him, and the referee called off the fight.
The only thing more impressive than that knockout win for Silva was what happened next.

In the cage after the victory, Silva unfolded a sign clearly calling for a 75K bonus from UFC President Dana White — a nod to last week’s bigger bonuses at the UFC 262 card in Houston, Texas.
After losing his first three UFC fights, Silva has rebounded perfectly with two knockouts and will be looking at a top 15 match-up in the flyweight rankings. Unfortunately for Rodriguez, that is two first-round knockouts in a row, and he might be headed back to the regional scene to fight his way back to the UFC.
Official Result: Bruno Silva def. Victor Rodriguez via KO (punch), Round 1, 1:00
