A pair of top 15 UFC middleweights will collide in August.
ESPN was the first to report the news that No. 8 middleweight Uriah Hall will fight Sean Strickland at UFC 265 on August 7. Strickland would confirm the booking on his Instagram Story.
Hall (17-9) is coming off a 17 second TKO of Chris Weidman, where Weidman would snap his left fibula and tibia on the first kick at UFC 261. “Prime Time” is riding the first four-fight win streak of his UFC career. Last Halloween, he retired Anderson Silva, he has defeated Antonio Carlos Júnior via split decision, and knocked out Bevon Lewis. Hall will be defending his No. 8 spot.
Strickland (23-3), like his opponent, is riding a four-fight win streak. Since making the move to middleweight late last year, “Tarzan” went 3-0 and has never looked better. He defeated Krzysztof Jotko earlier this month via a unanimous decision. Before that, he gave Brendan Allen his first loss in UFC, and on the same night Hall knocked out Silva, he dominated Jack Marshman.
UFC 265 does not have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced.
UFC 265 currently looks like this:
- Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena – for the UFC women’s bantamweight title
- Uriah Hall vs. Sean Strickland
- Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz
- Johnny Muñoz Jr. vs. Jamey Simmons
- Drako Rodriguez vs. Vince Morales
