Two title fights topped the card Friday night as all-female fighting outfit Invicta FC made its debut on AXS TV.
After sitting out the bulk of the first five months of 2021 and departing UFC Fight Pass, all eyes would be on Invicta’s first card of the year. The event included both flyweight and atomweight title tilts — in the headliner, Karina Rodriguez and Daiana Torquato threw down with the vacant 125lb belt on the line.
The co-feature, meanwhile, saw Alesha Zappitella making the first defense of her 105lb title, when she took on challenger Jessica Delboni.
Six fights in total made up the event, which was set to go down in Kansas City, Kansas Friday night. The Rodriguez vs. Torquato card saw only one fighter miss weight, with Josee Storts coming in heavy for her flyweight bout with Maria Favela. The bout would proceed with Storts fined 25% of her purse.
