A very exciting match-up between two entertaining UFC featherweights is going down in June.
MMA DNA was first to report the news that Nate Landwehr and Makwan Amirkhani will fight on June 5 at a UFC Fight Night that is expected to be headlined by Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Augusto Sakai. Landwehr would confirm the booking on his Instagram Story.
Amirkhani (16-4) has alternated losses in his last three UFC fights and will be looking to get back into the win column. “Mr. Finland” went 1-1 in 2020 and fought both times on ‘Fight Island.’ He defeated Danny Henry by submission via anaconda at UFC 251. Three months later, he would lose via unanimous decision to Edson Barboza in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Moraes vs. Sandhagen.
Like his opponent, Landwehr (14-4) has alternated losses in his three UFC fights. In his promotional debut last year against Herbert Burns, he wound up knocked out in the first round. He would return four months later and defeat Darren Elkins in a memorable bloody fight. “The Train” would try and get a third fight in 2020 but would contract COVID-19, and then his future opponent would test positive for COVID-19 the day of the event. Landwehr most recently was finished 56 seconds into the first round at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Lewis against Julian Erosa.
