A pair of UFC featherweights will look to get back into the win column in July.
Billy Quarantillo announced on his social media that he will fight Herbert Burns on July 17 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Burns also confirmed he had a fight booked just yesterday.
Quarantillo (15-3) suffered his first loss inside the octagon in December, which snapped the eight-fight win streak that he was on. He lost a unanimous decision to Gavin Tucker at UFC 256. Before his loss, he beat Spike Carlyle at UFC on ESPN: Woodley vs. Burns, the first UFC Fight Night at the UFC Apex. Four months later, he would knock out Kyle Nelson, seven seconds into the third round of their fight.
Herbert Burns (11-3) also suffered his first loss in the promotion in his last fight. A returning Daniel Pineda battered him at UFC 252. Burns would also miss weight by three and a half pounds for the fight. Like his opponent Quarantillo, he started 2020 great. The Brazilian knocked out Nate Landwehr in his UFC debut, receiving Performance of the Night. Five months later, he would submit UFC veteran Evan Dunham in less than two minutes, giving him his walking papers in the process.
No location, venue, or broadcast details have yet to be announced by the promotion for UFC’s July 17 Fight Night event.
With the addition of this fight, the fight card now looks like this:
- Miesha Tate vs Marion Reneau
- Ode Osbourne vs. Amir Albazi
- Khalid Taha vs. Sergey Morozov
- Billy Quarantillo vs. Herbert Burns
