A pair of UFC lightweights will look to continue their win streaks in May.
First reported by Carlos Contreras Legaspi, Joel Alvarez and Christos Giagos will fight at UFC 262 on May 15. Giagos would later confirm the booking via social media.
Alvarez (18-2) has gone on a three-fight win streak since losing his promotional debut in 2019. All three of his wins have come by finish. “El Fenómeno” started his winning streak by Danilo Belluardo at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Smith in June of 2019. He would return a year later to face Joesph Duffy on the first ‘Fight Island’ run. Alvarez would submit Duffy in the first round. He would once again return on ‘Fight Island’ three months later to submit Alexander Yakovlev in the first round.
Giagos (18-8) would get back in the win column with his most recent win against Carlton Minus on the last fight card of the year, UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. Before his win over Minus, he had his two-fight win streak snapped by Drakkar Klose at UFC 241 in 2019.
Expect fireworks with this one, as both men come to finish their opponents.
