A pair of UFC women’s flyweights will continue their climb towards the top 15 rankings in June.
Cageside Press confirmed Friday with a source close to the situation that Maryna Moroz will be Manon Fiorot’s second opponent in the UFC, with the bout taking place at a UFC event on June 5, 2021. French outlet lasueur.com was first to report the booking. Fiorot also confirmed the match-up on social media.
Maryna Moroz (10-3) only fought once last year, but it was a good win. The Ukrainian fighter handed Mayra Bueno Silva her first loss at the final UFC event before the sports world shut down due to the COVD-19 pandemic, UFC Brasilia. Before that, she snapped her two-fight losing streak by defeating Sabina Mazo in 2019. Moroz has only fought once a year for the past three years, so here’s hoping she is more active.
Fiorot (6-1) made her presence known during her UFC debut in January of this year. She finished Victoria Leonardo in the second round with strikes at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs. Magny. The French fight is a five-fight winning streak since losing her MMA debut in 2018.
A win over former No. 14 ranked Moroz could set up Fiorot with a big fight in her next outing; likewise, a win over the French fight could get Moroz back into the top 15.
No location or venue has been announced for this UFC event, and no other fights have been reported.
