Sam Hughes will not be fighting on February 27, but she does have a new date set.
As first reported by Cageside Press, Hughes lost her bout with Emily Whitmire later this month when Whitmire withdrew from the fight. Now, Hughes will take on Loma Lookboonmee at a Fight Night event on May 1.
Cageside Press confirmed the new booking Monday, following an initial report by MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck.
Hughes (5-2) made her debut in the UFC in December, going up against Tecia Torres on short notice at UFC 256. The bout ended in a doctor’s stoppage loss for Hughes following the opening round.
Lookboonmee (5-1), the first Thai fighter to sign with the UFC, is 2-1 in her UFC career to date. She made her debut against Aleksandra Albu in 2019, earning a split decision win. Lookboonmee dropped her second appearance to Angela Hill, before earning a unanimous decision win against former Invicta FC atomweight champ Jinh Yu Frey last October on Fight Island.
