A fun-looking featherweight fight is set to go down on the UFC’s May 1 card when longtime veteran Cub Swanson goes up against gritty Canadian Gavin Tucker.
Cageside Press confirmed the booking Monday, following an initial report by MMA DNA. The UFC has not officially announced the match-up.
Swanson (27-11) will look to build on a recent two-fight win streak in the match-up. After hitting the worst slump of his career from 2017 to 2019, losing four straight in the process (albeit to top names including Frankie Edgar and Brian Ortega), “Killer” Cub has bounced back with victories over Kron Gracie and Daniel Pineda.
His most recent bout, against Pineda, ended in a second round knockout. The Gracie fight, which went the distance, earned Fight of the Night honors at UFC Tampa.
In Tucker, the veteran featherweight will find a very game opponent. The Canadian is 4-1 inside the octagon since joining the UFC in 2017. Tucker has won three straight bouts, with two submissions and a Performance of the Night during that stretch. Most recently, he went the distance with Billy Quarantillo at UFC 256, taking home the unanimous decision victory.
The UFC’s May 1 card does not yet have an official location or venue announced. The following bouts have been reported for the Fight Night card:
Cub Swanson vs. Gavin Tucker
Damon Jackson vs. T.J. Laramie
Kai Kamaka III vs. T.J. Brown
Mike Jackson vs. Dean Barry
