A promising light heavyweight match-up has been lined up for the UFC’s March 27, 2021 event.
205lb’ers Jimmy Crute (12-1) and Johnny Walker (18-5) are expected to meet on that date, per a report by ESPN. While the UFC has not officially announced the bout, Crute confirmed on New Year’s Eve that he had an opponent and date lined up, though he did not reveal further details at that time.
The 24-year old Australian has been with the UFC since 2018, and will enter the fight against Walker riding a two-fight win streak. Most recently, Crute picked up a victory over Modestas Bukauskas in October. “The Brute” has earned a Performance of the Night bonus in both of his last two fights.
Johnny Walker snapped a two fight skid back in September when he stopped the surging Ryan Spann in what is best described as a wild brawl. The Brazilian made the move to Ireland last year, where he has been working under John Kavanagh at SBG Ireland.
Through 2018 and part of 2019, Walker was looked at as a rising contender in the light heavyweight division. Until he hit setbacks Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov. However, with the division in limbo with the exit of Jon Jones and imminent arrival of Israel Adesanya, Walker has some time to build his stock back up again.
The UFC’s March 27 date does not have an official location or event name/numbering announced. It is expected to be a Fight Night event.
