The UFC has booked a pair of Contender Series alumni for its February 27, 2021 card.
Alonzo Menifield and William Knight are set to throw down at the event on that date, which has yet to be officially announced. Both light heavyweights entered the promotion by way of Dana White’s Contender Series.
The promotion has not officially announced the match-up, which was first reported by MMA Junkie.
Menifield (9-2) joined the UFC off DWCS in 2019, and after winning two straight against Vinicius Moreira and Paul Craig, dropped his next two, to Devin Clark and Ovince Saint Preux. He’ll look to snap that skid against Knight. Only once in his 11-fight career has Menifield gone the distance, and that was the loss to Clark.
Knight is a more recent graduate of Dana White’s Contender Series. He appeared on the show earlier this season, defeating Cody Brundage to earn his way into the UFC. That win led to a quick turnaround against Aleksa Camur, which Knight also won. The Camur bout was the first time Knight had gone the distance, meaning that against Menifield, win or lose, there’s a strong chance things will finish within three rounds.
The UFC’s February 27 date does not yet have an official event name/designation or location reported as of yet. However, Jiri Prozchaka vs. Dominick Reyes is expected to headline the card.
