The middleweight bout between Ian Heinisch and Brendan Allen is off, as Heinisch tested positive for COVID-19 – ruling him out of the UFC Vegas 13 main card showcase tonight.
Ian Heinisch vs. Brendan Allen is off for the second time in 2020, as Heinisch tested positive for COVID-19. His opponent, Brendan Allen, revealed the fight cancellation via his instagram page.
“NO FIGHT TONIGHT! Opponent tested positive for covid so working on getting something else for next year. Thanks to everyone who helped me for this one, super bummed right now and just want to get home.” – Brendan Allen.
This is not the first time Allen vs. Heinisch has been cancelled in 2020. The booking was supposed to be Allen’s previous contest back in June, but Heinisch was forced to withdraw from the contest. That night, Allen faced undefeated newcomer Kyle Daukaus on short notice — where Allen bested a tough Daukaus over three rounds to take home a decision victory. That extended Allen’s UFC record to 3-0 and his current win streak to seven.
On tonight’s card there will be no replacement however, as there was no backup for the contest and as they have now passed weigh ins, it is too late for Allen to face someone on short notice. Allen did say on social media that he is working on booking his next Octagon bout next year. Giga Chikadze vs. Jamey Simmons will replace the fight on the main card.
As a result of Allen vs. Heinisch being off, tonight’s card will continue on with ten bouts. In the main event, Thiago Santos returns from injury layoff to face 38-fight veteran Glover Teixeira. The rest of the fights on tonight’s card are listed below.
