Marlon Moraes
Despite losing two of his last three bouts, and not really getting credit for the win, Marlon Moraes is still one of the very best at bantamweight in the UFC. A win over Moraes could get any fighter, much less a former champion coming off of a two year suspension, around the bantamweight title-picture. Moraes is also one of the tougher opponents Dillashaw could be paired with.
Depending on how results at bantamweight would’ve gone, and had Dillashaw not been suspended, this is another matchup we could’ve potentially seen over the last two years. Moraes was on his path toward a title-shot at 135-pounds just as Dillashaw was going for Cejudo’s flyweight belt.
Now, rather than the fight being for gold, this matchup could be for two former title-contenders looking to get back into the fold. Dillashaw might have to wait a while for Moraes though, as Moraes is booked for a fight in December against Rob Font.
There’s no shortage of interesting options for TJ Dillashaw’s UFC return in 2021. The two-time former champion will be gunning for a third title-reign in one of the sport’s toughest divisions. We’ll see if he ends up fighting for another title in the future, but he’ll once again have to go through a gauntlet of top-tier contenders to get there.
