Roberto Soldic was previously announced for the upcoming KSW 56 card, and on Monday, the promotion revealed exactly who he will be facing. Confirming a report by MMA Junkie, KSW officials revealed on social media that Soldic is set to face Michal Materla at the event.
The fight will be contested at 185lbs, with Soldic, a two-time welterweight champion in the promotion, moving up to meet the former middleweight champ.
All of 25 years old, Soldic has already compiled a 17-3 record as a professional mixed martial artist. The Croatian fighter known as “Robocop” first captured KSW’s 170lb title in 2017, but would lose the belt in his first title defense, against future UFC athlete Dricus Du Plessis.
Regaining the belt in an instant rematch, he would go on to defend it against Krystian Kaszubowski in May 2019. His last outing was a non-title bout at KSW 50: London last September, where he captured a unanimous decision over Michał Pietrzak.
Materla (29-7) is among KSW’s longest-serving stars, starting with the promotion at KSW 6 in 2006. His reign as middleweight champion lasted upwards of three years, starting in 2012, and saw him compete in a trilogy of bouts against Jay Silva, among other fighters.
KSW 56 is set to take place on November 14, and will air live on KSW TV.
