Relive the crowning of Bellator’s newest bantamweight champion, Juan Archuleta, at Bellator 246.
Or, you know, just check out some darn cool photos of the action. Bellator 246 was the second of back-to-back Bellator MMA cards this past weekend. And while night one opened with Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis in a key light heavyweight battle, even more was on the line for Archuleta and opponent Patchy Mix.
Through five hard fought rounds the duo went at it, Mix winning the early rounds with his wrestling, then Archuleta, no slouch in the cardio department, storming back to pick up the win with excellent work on the feet. It’s the first major title for “The Spaniard,” who is creeping up on 30 fights in his professional career with a record of 25-2.
Also on Saturday’s Bellator 246 card, the debut of Liz Carmouche, a two-time title challenger in the UFC, in two different weigh classes. She picked up the submission win over DeAnna Bennett, in what was a promotional debut for both fighters.
Longtime veteran Jon Fitch also retired, after a loss to Neiman Gracie.
