His trilogy with Norman Parke complete, undefeated KSW featherweight and lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot is ready to move on to other challenges. Which all starts Saturday, at KSW 54 in Warsaw, Poland.
The challenge in question comes in the form of Marian Ziolkowski, who will look to topple Gamrot and claim his lightweight title. Ziolkowski wasn’t the originally scheduled challenger for Saturday, mind you. The initial plan was for the undefeated Shamil “The Silent Assassin” Musaev to square off with the champ. But a knee injury to Musaev threw a wrench in the works, and it was Ziolkowski, winner of his last two bouts in KSW, being awarded a big opportunity.
In co-main event action, boxer Izu Ugonoth, who at times held the IBF Mediterranean heavyweight title, WBO Africa heavyweight title, and the interim WBA Oceania heavyweight titles, was set to make his MMA debut. That put him up against 5-1 Portuguese heavyweight Quentin Domingos.
KSW 44 kicks off at 2PM ET, and can be streamed live via KSW TV. Check back throughout the event for updated results.
