Fresh off a successful UFC debut, Tracy Cortez will compete for the first time in 2020 as she meets TUF alum Bea Malecki on October 10.
First reported by MMAJunkie, Contender Series favorite Tracy Cortez (7-1) will be making her second UFC appearance as she meets TUF veteran Bea Malecki (2-0) at an event on October 10.
After stumbling in her professional debut, Cortez went on a run that saw her put together victories in Invicta, Combate Americas, V3, and World Fighting Federation. Building her fan base along the way, Cortez was one of the breakout stars of the third season of Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019 with the UFC President claiming a few tears were shed hearing the story of the prospect. Cortez made her official UFC debut in November, defeating Vanessa Melo to add to her resume after defeating current UFC bantamweight Mariya Agapova on the Contender Series.
Bea “Bad News Barbie” Malecki introduced herself to the MMA world during the final season (so far) of The Ultimate Fighter in 2018 where she was the sixth pick of coach Kelvin Gastelum. Competing at featherweight on the show, Malecki dropped down to bantamweight in her UFC debut where she picked up a victory over Duda Santana in front of her home country of Sweden. Malecki most recently fought at the first UFC event without fans at the start of the pandemic where she defeated Veronica Macedo at UFC Brasilia.
No official location for the October 10 event has been announced but there has been speculation that this particular card will be held in Abu Dhabi on “Fight Island” where the UFC had a stretch of shows in July. The event is scheduled to be headlined by top bantamweight contenders Marlon Moraes and Corey Sandhagen.
