ONE Championship’s third card since its return to action, No Surrender III, was set to air Friday morning. While the promotion released weigh-in information a day earlier, the fights themselves took place in advance, per a statement by the organization’s Thailand branch on Thursday.
In that statement, officials confirmed to those following along with the ongoing bantamweight Muay Thai tournament that “ONE Championship has kept the results of the tournament a secret,” so that fans could enjoy the tournament as planned, without fear of spoilers.
ONE cited the coronavirus, and the need to prevent its spread, as the reason for its approach. It noted that “some competitions have been held in advance,” (via Google translate), without specifying when precisely the fights took place.
In any case, the winner of the bantamweight tournament was promised a shot against champ Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, making it well worth keeping an eye on.
On the MMA side of things, Shannon Wiratchai looked to snap a four-fight skid when he took on Fabio Pinca. Wiratchai has been one of ONE’s longest-serving athletes, having debuted in the promotion in 2012 against Mitch Chilson, who now works the broadcast booth.
A live stream of No Surrender III can be viewed above where available. Full results can be found below following Friday’s card.
