The card for the August 11 episode of Dana White’s Contender Series is taking shape as a fight between new LFA champion Vanessa Demopoulos and Cory McKenna has been announced.
The second episode of season 4 of Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) is taking shape as a fight between new LFA champion Vanessa Demopoulos will be fighting Welsh product Cory McKenna. The card is set to be headlined by Jordan Williams and Jordan Wright on August 11.
Less than 24 hours after securing a come from behind victory over Sam Hughes to win the inaugural LFA strawweight championship, Vanessa “Little Monster” Demopoulos reportedly was offered the slot on the August 11 card for DWCS without even an opponent set. The 31 year old from Ohio who now trains out of Black House MMA in Southern California has a decorated career in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and will go into her match at the Contender Series riding a four fight win-streak in LFA.
Born in Wales, Cory “The Hobbit” McKenna fights out of Team Alpha Male in Sacrament. Her professional career has been built exclusively in Cage Warriors in the UK where she carries a 4-1 record. McKenna goes into the fight riding a two fight win-streak but has not fought since 2019. She did have a previously scheduled bout for this April but the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
