All-women’s MMA promotion Invicta FC returns to action for the first time since prior to the coronavirus pandemic on Thursday, July 2. Jumping into action just prior to Independence Day in the U.S., the promotion hosts Invicta FC 40 in Kansas City, with a strawweight main event featuring former Bellator title challenger Emily Ducote against ex-UFC fighter Juliana Lima.
Weigh-ins for the event went down Wednesday, and the card wound up losing a key fight, as DeAnna Bennett suffered a medical issue during her weight cut, and could not weigh in. As a result, opponent Victoria Leonardo was paid her show purse.
