“The Preacher’s Daughter” Holly Holm (13-5) is looking to win her second straight fight since challenging for the title last July. In January, she had a successful return with a dominant victory over Raquel Pennington. Holm is best known for winning the bantamweight title in a seminal moment when she upset MMA superstar Ronda Rousey in 2015. Since then, Holm has bounced between bantamweight and featherweight and been a multiple time title challenger in both weight classes.
Irene Aldana (12-5) will be looking for the biggest victory of her career against the former champion. A part of the UFC since 2016, Aldana has amassed a 5-3 record in the promotion and is on a 6-1 run in her past seven fights. Most recently, the Mexican contender scored an impressive first round knockout victory over previously undefeated contender Ketlen Vieira in December. Like Holm, this will be Vieira’s first fight amidst the coronavirus pandemic that will take place without fans in attendance.
The full fight card has not yet to be announced for August 1 but ESPN has also reported a middleweight match-up between Derek Brunson and rising star Edmen Shahbazyan for the event.
