The UFC is continuing to book fights well into August, and a strawweight bout is the latest. Combate was first to report that former Invicta FC champ Livia Renata Souza will face Ashley Yoder on August 15, at an event yet to be announced.
No location has been set. However, due to travel restrictions faced by Brazilian athletes trying to enter the U.S., Fight Island is a possibility. UFC President Dana White let slip this week that the promotion’s island location could be up and running as soon as June 27.
32-year old Yoder (7-5) had a two-fight win streak inside the octagon snapped in her last outing. That bout, at UFC Singapore, saw her come up just short against Canada’s Randa Markos, losing a split decision. Prior to that, Yoder had strung together wins against Syuri Kondo and Amanda Cooper.
Brazil’s Livia Renata Souza (13-2) also had a win streak snapped recently. A run of four victories came to an end for the 29-year old when she fell to Brianna Van Buren at UFC Sacramento last year. Prior to that, she had won her first two trips to the octagon, against Sarah Frota and Alex Chambers. “Livinha” rode two wins into the UFC, and held gold in Invicta FC in 2015-16, defending the strawweight title there once before losing it to Angela Hill.
