Combat sports is ready to return to Nevada, and the UFC is at the forefront. This Saturday, UFC on ESPN 9 — conveniently pegged as UFC Vegas — will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
There will be no crowd in attendance. The venue is the same that plays host to Dana White’s Contender Series, and gives the UFC a chance to put on shows at home, saving on costs and at least partially making up for the lack of a gate.
In the main event, former welterweight champ Tyron Woodley will be back in action for the first time in over a year. In fact, his headlining bout against Gilbert Burns is his first since losing the 170lb title to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 last March.
At weigh-in Friday morning, Tyron Woodley was first on the scales. One fighter missed weight — Brok Weaver, who was 1.5lbs over the non-title fight lightweight limit. He chose to stop his cut, though the fight with Roosevelt Roberts will move forward, with Weaver forfeiting 20% of his purse. Klidson Abreu, weighing in later in the window, needed a second attempt, and towel, to hit 206lbs for his fight with Jamahal Hill. He did make weight however.
Check back starting at 12PM ET for results from Friday morning’s weigh-in!
