A previously announced women’s bantamweight match-up for the UFC’s June 13 event, originally planned for Kazakhstan, will still take place — in a new venue.
Combate was first to report that Mariya Agapova vs. Melissa Gatto will go forward on its original date. However, the show is expected to go down at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Travel restrictions resulting from the coronavirus have prevented any chance of the UFC’s Kazakhstan debut happening as planned.
Both fighters later confirmed the news on social media. Agapova (8-1) and Gatto (6-0-2) will both be making their promotional debuts at the event. Notably, Gatto has not fought since a May 2018 win over Karol Rosa, who is also now a member of the UFC roster.
Another scrap between promising female fighters has also joined the card. Luana Carolina vs. Ariane Lipski was originally set for UFC San Diego earlier this month. Now, the flyweight fight been shifted to the Apex as well. Combate was also first to report that booking.
Lipski (12-5) will enter the fight off her first win inside the octagon. “The Violence Queen” is a former KSW flyweight champion. Carolina (6-1) is a Contender Series alum who won her promotional debut against Priscila Cachoeira last year.
The UFC’s June 13 offering currently consists of the following bouts:
Cynthia Calvillo vs. Jessica Eye
Mark De La Rosa vs. Jordan Espinosa
Karl Roberson vs. Marvin Vettori
Ryan Benoit vs. Tyson Nam
Andre Fili vs. Charles Jourdain
Mariya Agapova vs. Melissa Gatto
Luana Carolina vs. Ariane Lipski
