Cage Warriors 113 will see a Frankenstein-esque monster of a fight cobbled together from two fallen UFC London bouts.
Darren Stewart was expected to face Marvin Vettori at the UFC’s Fight Night event this weekend at the O2 Arena. Bartosz Fabinski, meanwhile, had been expected to take on Shavkat Rakhmonov. However, with the card relocating and most of the fights scrapped, the go-ahead has been given for Stewart and Fabinski to face off.
MMA Fighting first reported the news. Rakhmonov’s fight was looked at as a possibility to move, but he reportedly had visa issues preventing that.
Stewart (11-4) is currently on a two-fight win streak inside the octagon. He’s picked up victories over Bevon Lewis and Deron Winn in his last two outings. Fabinski (14-3) is 3-1 in the promotion, and will head into the fight off his first loss since 2014, against Michel Prazeres.
This is the second UFC London bout (of sorts) picked up by the Cage Warriors 113 card. John Phillips vs. Dusko Todorovic has also moved to the card in the wake of the larger promotion’s forced relocation, a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Cage Warriors 113 takes place Friday, March 20 at the Indigo at The O2 in London, England. The event airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
