Megan Anderson (9-4) vs. Norma Dumont (D) (4-0)
Narrative: Norma Dumont signed with the UFC last year, and makes her debut against former Invicta FC featherweight champ Megan Anderson. Outside of Amanda Nunes, there are only four featherweights in the UFC, and all four are on this card. Nunes has her eye on these fights, as she wants to defend her 145lb title later this year. Dumont has not fought since 2018, and has competed at 135lbs in the past. Anderson comes in off a win over Zarah Fairn (who is fighting Felicia Spencer later in the night). These two fights pretty much make up the Amanda Nunes sweepstakes.
Shawn Bitter: Dumont has a background in Sanda which is a form of Chinese boxing/kickboxing that mixes punches, kicks, knees, elbows, and all forms of takedowns. The Brazilian has also trained in jiu-jitsu for eight years and in that time, achieved her purple belt. It seems the only area Dumont is dangerous is on the mat due to her strong top position. Her takedowns come from the clinch as she utilizes trips well but her strikes to close the distance need work. Her biggest issue is her stand-up in general, offensively and defensively. Dumont stands too square and hardly has any kind of quality footwork. Anderson should no doubt walk through Dumont on the feet. Also the experience of Anderson should put her over in this fight.
Max Freedman: The untested Dumont has not competed since August, 2018 and has normally competed at bantamweight. Anderson cruises to a second-round finish. Anderson TKO (2)
Kristen King: Megan Anderson should pick up her second consecutive win here against Norma Dumont. Dumont is a great grappler, and we have seen Anderson have some trouble with groundwork, but I think she can keep the fight standing and pick the debutant apart with strikes. Anderson gets it done by way of first-round technical knockout.
Keith Shillan: Anderson
Marcel Dorff: UFC Norfolk will go down in history for two Women’s Featherweight match-ups on the main card, something no sane person asked for. Norma Dumont is undefeated but normally fights at Bantamweight. She takes on Megan Anderson after a long lay off. While I don’t think Anderson is as good as many people give her credit for (no disrespect) I expect her to have the size and height advantage over Norma. Taking Anderson via an early stoppage.
Ryan Fortune: Anderson
