ONE Championship’s second event of 2020, Fire & Fury, saw strawweight champion Joshua Pacio continue his reign. A close split decision had the Lakay Central Gym member, fighting at home in the Philippines, retain his title opposite a game Alex Silva. The Brazilian had the champ in some bad spots early, but ultimately Pacio prevailed.
Teammate Eduard Folayang was not so lucky. The former lightweight champ, fighting in the co-main event, lost a split decision of his own. That came against Pieter Buist, who stepped into the fight on short notice. It’s the third loss in four fights for Folayang, who was defeated by former UFC lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez last year.
