Middleweights Deron Winn and Gerald Meerschaert will look to bounce back at UFC 248.
After a bit of teasing on social media, Deron Winn and Gerald Meerschaert have made it official. The pair are expected to meet at UFC 248 this March, with the fighters themseves confirming the match-up. Both fighters had previously announced they had a fight pending, with Meerschaert adding “it’s most likely exactly what you think it is.”
If you guessed Winn, you win the prize.

Winn (6-1) enters the UFC 248 pairing off the first loss of his professional career. A split decision loss at UFC Boston in October to Darren Stewart stalled his momentum, after an octagon debut win against Eric Spicely. Winn has also previously competed for Bellator MMA, and as part of the ill-fated Golden Boy MMA Ortiz vs. Liddell 3 card.
Meerschaert (30-12) fell to Eryk Anders in Tampa back in October. He went 1-2 in 2019, with a win over Trevin Giles at UFC on ESPN 4 in August, and a loss to Kevin Holland at UFC Philadelphia to start the year.
UFC 248 is set to take place March 7, 2020 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Making his first title defense, middleweight champ Israel Adesanya faces Yoel Romero in the main event.
The UFC 248 card currently breaks down as follows:
Israel Adesanya (c) vs. Yoel Romero – For the UFC middleweight championship
Zhang Weili (c) vs. Joanna Jędrzejczyk – For the UFC women’s strawweight championship
