RIZIN 21 is set to take place February 22, 2020 at the Hamamatsu Arena in Shizuoka, Japan. On Friday, the Japanese MMA promotion announced a number of bouts for the card, their first of 2020. Among them, UFC alum Masanori Kanehara (27-13-5) will make his debut for RIZIN FF, after an absence of nearly two years.
His opponent will be a fighter he’s rather familiar with: Victor Henry (19-4). Kanehara defeated Henry with a foot lock at Quintet Fight Night in Tokyo in 2018. This time, they’ll face off under the MMA rule set.
RIZIN officials announced that and other fights in a press release Friday. Among those other bouts will be a heavyweight showdown between Roque Martinez (14-5-2) and Hideki Sekine (7-3). Sekine has competed for ONE Championship and DEEP, while Martinez has been with RIZIN since 2017, competing against the likes of Mirko Cro-Cop and Jerome LeBanner.
The main event for RIZIN 21, meanwhile, will see Mikuru Asakura, brother of promotional standout Kai Asakura, taking on Daniel Salas.
