Lightweights Austin Hubbard and Mark O. Madsen will both be looking for their second straight win inside the octagon at UFC 248.
Legacy Fighting Alliance alumni Austin Hubbard has his third outing inside the octagon set. MMA Junkie was first to report that Hubbard (11-3) will face Olympian Mark O. Madsen (9-0) at UFC 248 in March. The fight will be Madsen’s first bout outside his native Denmark.
Hubbard claimed LFA’s lightweight championship in December 2018 with a finish of Killys Mota. He then made the jump to the UFC, dropping his debut against Davi Ramos at UFC Rochester last year. Hubbard would go on to appear at UFC Vancouver in September, earning his first win on the big stage with a three-round victory over Kyle Prepolec.
He’ll look to make it two in a row against Madsen, who has yet to taste defeat in his professional MMA career. The Danish athlete claimed the silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At that point, he’d already picked up a pair of wins inside the cage, but he went all-in come 2018, competing four times that year, never looking back. Madsen made his UFC debut this past September at UFC Copenhagen, stopping Danilo Belluardo with punches in just over a minute.
UFC 248 takes place March 7, 2020 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. No main event has been confirmed as of yet. The card currently includes the following announced/reported fights:
