The UFC’s return to Columbus continues to grow with the addition of bantamweights Randy Costa and Martin Day.
Massachusetts native Randy Costa will make the trip to Columbus, Ohio for his next octagon appearance. At UFC Columbus (UFC on ESPN 8), Costa is set to take on the returning Martin Day. Cageside Press verified the fight with a source close to the situation following an initial report by MMA Junkie.
Costa (5-1) is coming off his first win in the promotion, against Boston Salmon at October’s UFC Boston. The 25-year old is now 1-1 in the company, after spending his early career with Cage Titans. Impressively, Costa graduated straight to the UFC after just three fights with that promotion, bypassing the likes of the Contender Series and The Ultimate Fighter.
After a first round knockout of Salmon, Costa will look to keep the momentum going against Martin Day, who will enter the octagon for the first time in over a year at UFC Columbus. Day (9-3), a Hawaiian born in Japan, last fought at UFC Beijing in 2018, losing his promotional debut to Pingyuan Liu. He had a pair of fights scheduled last year, both of which fell through due to injury.
UFC Columbus, the first event on ESPN proper for 2020, takes place March 28, 2020 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The card is headlined by a heavyweight showdown featuring Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
