Michael Page made it three knockouts in a row with a masterful performance against Shinsho Anzai at Bellator 237, knocking him out in the second round.
Michael Page is on the way back up after his appearance in the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix. He defeated Paul Daley in the first round of the tournament, but fell to welterweight champion Douglas Lima in the second round. Since then, “MVP” has scored a pair of quick knockouts, lasting a total of four minutes and 29 seconds. The loss to Lima is the only one in his 17-fight career.
Shinsho Anzai will be fighting in his hometown of Saitama, Japan, at Bellator 237. It will also be his Bellator debut after a 2-2 stint in the UFC as well as a victory in Japanese promotion DEEP.
Shinsho Anzai blitzed in early but ate a flying knee right away. He followed through with his takedown effort but couldn’t get anything. Quickly, Page was incredibly comfortable. He hit Anzai with the same flying knee backing away twice more in the round. A one-two combination knocked down his Japanese foe and this fight was a blowout. Page was not missing with anything he threw and Anzai had no answer. The round ended in a clinch initiated by Page.
The fight ended very quickly in the second round. Page was backing away against a charging Anzai and a one-two combination floored Anzai. No follow-up punches were required as the referee jumped in right away.
