It appears the injury will keep Ortega out longer than two months. Ortega hasn’t fought since suffering his first professional loss against Max Holloway in December of 2018. The promotion is attemping to keep Chan Sung Jung on December 21st card. With 17 days notice, there’s still time to find a replacement but no names have been mentioned yet. Who do you think would be a great opponent to step in on short notice?
Update: Ortega has addressed the injury on social media, confirming that a torn ACL is the culprit. “I tore my ACL and I won’t be fighting in Korea,” he wrote on his official Instagram account. “Thankfully it was only a partial tear, and I’m already rehabbing it and the plan is to be back to 100% in 2-3 months.” Ortega went on to say that he originally planned to push through the injury, but was advised by doctors that doing so could lead to a full rupture.
