Michael Page will face Giovanni Melillo in the main event of Bellator Europe 2, after Derek Anderson was forced off the card due to injury.
Michael Page was expected to face the always dangerous Derek Anderson at Bellator London 2 (Bellator Europe 6) next Saturday at the The SSE Arena, Wembley. However, with Anderson injured and out of the event, Page now meets promotional newcomer Giovanni Melillo atop the card.
Bellator officials announced the news Friday, following a report by the Evening Standard.
This will be the second straight fight against lesser-known competition for Page. Last time out, he soundly defeated kickboxer Richard Kiely, who was appearing in his second fight for the promotion. Giovanni Melillo (13-4) will be making his Bellator debut against Page, coming off a win over former UFC fighter Will Chope earlier this year. A 34-year-old out of Italy, Melillo has also fought for ACB and Venator FC.
Page, meanwhile, suffered the first loss of his career against Douglas Lima in the semifinals of the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix earlier this year. That knockout blow halted a 14-fight win streak that included victories over Paul Daley and Caveman Rickels.
Bellator London 2 takes place Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the The SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England.
