Aviv Gozali joined his father Haim in the winner’s circle at Bellator 234, earning a submission victory before calling out Ryan Couture.
Just minutes after father Haim won his retirement fight, Aviv Gozali took the cage at Bellator 234. The lightweight prospect faced Zaka Fatullazade at the event, which went down Thursday in Tel Aviv, Israel. The card aired via tape delay Friday on Paramount Network in North America.
In the experience department, the 3-0 Gozali was at a stark disadvantage. Fatullazade entered the fight with a record of 14-8. Gozali, however, held the record for the fastest submission victory in Bellator MMA history.
Gozali went right to work, initiating a thai clinch, landing knees, then firing kicks. Moments later he’d slam his opponent to the mat, putting him on his back. Fatullazade tried to power up, but Gozali was on top almost instantly, locking in an anaconda choke from mount that had Fatullazade tapping frantically in moments.
That was all it took. Both father and son were victorious at Bellator 234, and it will be Aviv carrying the family name going forward. He called out Ryan Couture after the fight, looking to get revenge on the man who twice defeated his father.
Official Result: Aviv Gozali def. Zaka Fatullazade by submission (anaconda choke), Round 1, 0:56
