The UFC returns to North Carolina this coming January, as they make their debut in the city of Raleigh with a Fight Night event.

The UFC is set to make its debut in Raleigh, North Carolina early in 2020. In an announcement made via their official website Monday, the promotion unveiled that their debut in Raleigh would be a Fight Night event going down on January 25.

Cageside Press previously revealed that the promotion had an event penciled in for that date, though the exact location was unknown at the time. BJJ ace Herbert Burns, brother of Gilbert Burns, is expected to compete on the card.

No fights, however, were officially announced for the event on Monday. The show will take place at the PNC Arena, home of the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL and NC State Wolfpack basketball. Tickets are set to go on sale Friday, December 6.

Interestingly enough, Bellator MMA is also in action that night, with the promotional debut of former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. Cyborg will face 145lb champion Julia Budd in Los Angeles that evening.

The UFC has hosted events in North Carolina five times previously: four in Charlotte, and one in Fayetteville. Two of those shows, however, came in the mid-nineties, with UFC 3 and UFC 5 taking place in Charlotte. The promotion last visited the state in January 2018 with UFC on FOX 27.
