Veronica Macedo is stepping up to face Ariane Lipski at UFC Sao Paulo later this month.
‘The Violence Queen’ has a new opponent, after Priscila Cachoeira was forced out of their fight at next week’s UFC Sao Paulo card. Per a report by MMA Fighting, Ariane Lipski, a former KSW flyweight champion, will now face Veronica Macedo at the Fight Night event.
Cachoeira was yanked after testing positive for a diuretic. In her place steps Macedo (6-3-1), who will be looking to secure her second win in the UFC.
After starting her run at 0-3 with losses to Ashlee Evans-Smith, KGB Lee, and Gillian Roberton, Macedo finally got her hand raised against Polyana Viana in August. Securing the win via arm-bar, the Venezuelan will take on Brazil’s Lipski in enemy territory.
Lipski, meanwhile, will be hunting for her first win in the promotion. At 11-5 as a pro, she entered the UFC on a nine fight winning streak, but has dropped bouts to Joanne Calderwood and Molly McCann since her arrival.
Macedo was originally expected to drop to strawweight to face Amanda Lemos on December 21, 2019 at UFC Busan. A replacement is reportedly being sought for Lemos.
UFC Sao Paulo (UFC Fight Night 164) takes place November 16 at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The card is headlined by Jacare Souza making his light heavyweight debut against Jan Blachowicz.
