Opening up the PFL’s light heavyweight post-season, top seed Emiliano Sordi reminded fans why he’s a favorite to go the distance in the million dollar tournament.
Emiliano Sordi did not take long to advance to the PFL semifinals on Thursday night in Las Vegas. Under two minutes, in fact. Sordi was the top seed in the light heavyweight division heading into the night, and as such was matched up with the number eight seed Sigi Pesaleli. The pair opened the PFL 9 2019 card, which featured two fights in a night for those fighters that made it past the quarterfinals.
The key moment for Sordi was trapping his opponent against the cage. A hard right hand connected, and Pesaleli was already covering up. Sordi moved in, firing an uppercut, and his already hurt opponent was going down. Sordi unloaded, forcing the ref to come in and wave off the fight! An opening round TKO for Emiliano Sordi, a clear favorite to go the distance in the light heavyweight division. The stoppage marked Sordi’s fourth in five PFL fights, dating back to 2018.
Sordi advanced to the semifinals with the win, and was scheduled to face the winner of Bazigit Atajev and Viktor Nemkov later in the evening.
Sordi gets it done in a hurry! 🇦🇷
