Urijah Faber vs. Petr Yan is the latest big addition to UFC 245 in Las Vegas this December.
Hall of Famer Urijah Faber will return once again, this time at UFC 245. After a huge comeback win against Ricky Simon earlier this year, Faber has signed on for a bout with top bantamweight contender Petr Yan. ESPN was first to report news of the booking. The bout has not been officially announced by the UFC.
Faber (35-10) retired off a win over Brad Pickett in 2016, after becoming known as both a pioneer of the lighter weight classes, and one of the best fighters to never wear gold in the UFC. The Team Alpha Male founder went on to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, but returned to action at UFC Sacramento over the summer, defeating Simon decisively with a 46-second finish.
While money appeared to be a factor in whether Faber would continue fighting, it appears those concerns have been cleared up.
Yan (13-1), meanwhile, has been surging up the rankings, with eight straight wins to his name. In his past two fights, he’s defeated John Dodson and Jimmie Rivera.
Faber, however, would represent the biggest name the Russian known as ‘No Mercy’ has faced to date.
UFC 245 takes place December 14, 2019 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. A trio of title fights top the card: Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington, Max Holloway vs. Alexander Volkanovski, and Amanda Nunes vs. Germaine de Randamie.
