Miguel Baeza scored the rarely-seen leg kick TKO at UFC Tampa, chipping away at the calf of Hector Aldana before bringing him down.
Miguel Baeza will be making his promotional debut at UFC Tampa. The Florida native impressed on Dana White’s Contender Series, nearly knocking out his opponent in the first round before a fun three-round victory. Hector Aldana appeared on The Ultimate Fighter Latin America, going 1-1 on the show. Since entering the UFC, he is 0-2 after facing up-and-comers Kenan Song and Laureano Starapoli.
Miguel Baeza opened the fight with a looping right hand that was blocked. He began whipping around kicks then went high with one. Baeza nearly swept the leg out from under Hector Aldana with a kick, but Aldana kept moving forward. Leg kicks were being traded by the fighters, then Aldana tried to chase Baeza down but couldn’t find the mark. The taller Baeza was mixing up his punches, going to the body of Aldana and mixing in a leg kick. Before the clock ran out, Baeza drove Aldana to the ground with a takedown.
More kicks started the second round of action, with Aldana catching Baeza. Baeza answered with a calf kick then began opening up with his hands. Combinations were landing with ease, opening up the opportunity for Baeza to connect with more leg kicks. They began to add up and down went Aldana after two landed consectively. Baeza jumped on top and unloaded the finishing blows. It was a leg kick TKO for Baeza in his UFC debut.
