Kayla Harrison did exactly what was expected of her against short-notice replacement Bobbi Jo Dalziel at PFL 7 2019 in Las Vegas.
What MMA event would be complete without some last minute drama? Ahead of PFL 7 2019, going down Friday night in Las Vegas, it was a last-minute opponent switch for Kayla Harrison. Originally scheduled foe Genah Fabian suffered some medical issues, reportedly due to her weight cut. In her place stepped up Bobbi Jo Dalziel, who had been eliminated during the regular season.
Harrison opened the action by holding center, then closing the distance and pushing Dalziel up against the cage. It wasn’t long before she had the trip. Dalziel was on her back, but got up against the fence, trying to wall walk. Harrison was on her however, trapping a leg and controlling a wrist. Harrison mixed in some punches, which Canada’s Dalziel tried to block. She did make it back to her feet — but Harrison tripped her again. This time Harrison took mount, launching some nasty ground n’ pound. Next came the arm bar, and while Dalziel tried to roll through, she was force to tap!
With that, Kayla Harrison earned her spot in the PFL 2019 women’s lightweight finale, against Larissa Pacheco, who defeated Sarah Kaufman earlier in the night. Harrison dedicated the fight to the late Jack Hatton, an Olympic judo hopeful and teammate who passed away late last month.
Official Result: Kayla Harrison def. Bobbi Jo Dalziel by submission (arm-bar), Round 1, 3:32
