Making his promotional debut in a welterweight tournament alternate bout, former ONE Championship fighter Nikolay Aleksakhin impressed in his PFL debut.
Nikolay Aleksakhin made his PFL debut Friday at PFL 7 2019, where he faced Canada’s Jesse Ronson in a scheduled three-round contest. The fight served as an alternate for the PFL 2019 playoffs, in the welterweight division.
Ronson came out and took center, while Aleksakhin landed an inside leg kick. That forced Ronson to answer back with his own. Aleksakhin landed another leg kick but Ronson stayed in front of him. Aleksakhin landed a 1-2 combination and slid away before Ronson could answer. Canada’s Ronson continued to move forward and Aleksakhin circled away. Ronson attacked with a leg kick but Aleksakhin fired back with another combination. Ronson then hit the mark with a stiff right, but Aleksakhin fired back with volume. Aleksakhin kept finding the mark with his left and left Ronson was bloodied. Ronson locked up the clinch for a moment but they broke quickly. The two exchanged with Aleksakhin landing a right followed by a hard knee that dropped Ronson to the mat! Aleksakhin was quick to follow up, and rained punches down on Ronson until the referee had to step in and end the action.
Should anyone fall to injury, Aleksakhin looks like a solid challenge as an alternate.
Official Result: Nikolay Aleksakhin def. Jesse Ronson by TKO, Round 1, 3:37
