Michael ‘Venom’ Page was looking to bounce back from a vicious knockout at the hands of Douglas Lima when he stepped in the cage at Bellator: Dublin against kickboxer Richard Kiely.
Michael Page has long been considered one of Bellator’s deadliest strikers, so it was something of a shock when Dougas Lima turned the tables on MVP earlier this year. The knockout blow from Lima at Bellator 221 sent Page packing from the welterweight grand prix. At Bellator: Dublin, he was looking to bounce back, against Irish kickboxer Richard Kiely.
Bounce back he did. Page came out with his hands low, while Kiely faked a leg kick. Page looked to press the action with the jab. Kiely moved in but Page had a right hand waiting for him. Kiely jumped in for a super man punch and again Page had a right ready; they both just missed the mark but Kiely was sent to the mat and Page looked to land from the top.
Page worked from side control and landed some nice shots but suddenly the ref stepped in stood Page up, taking a point from him for sportsmanship. That call will probably be discussed for a bit. The two returned back to their feet and exchanged again. Page was looking like himself. As Kiely stepped in, Michael Page fired off a devastating flying knee that sent Kiely crashing to the mat — leaving MVP with the walk away KO!
