Donald Cerrone and Justin Gaethje top an exciting Fight Night card, as UFC Vancouver marks the third and final Canadian event of 2019.
The UFC was hosting its final Canadian card of the year on Saturday, with a frankly killer lightweight main event. Cowboy Cerrone was in the Great White North once again, taking on ‘The Highlight’ machine that is Justin Gaethje at UFC Vancouver.
Light heavyweights were also in the spotlight at UFC Vancouver, with Glover Teixeira taking on Nikita Krylov. Also at 205lbs, Jimmy Crute looked to break into the rankings by taking on Canada’s own Misha Cirkunov.
Jimmy Crute jokingly held the towel when he weighed in. Uriah Hall jokingly threatened to throw up some middle fingers. And Cowboy Cerrone brought Danger with him (as in his son, Danger), giving the tyke his hat while dad weighed in. In all, the early part of the UFC Vancouver weigh-in was a lighthearted affair.
Later in the morning, a visibly sweaty Justin Gaethje hit the scales, making weight at 155.5lbs for the headliner. That made the main event official. Michel Pereira, a hulking Brazilian who cuts down to welterweight, was a pound over, coming in at 172lbs with the towel. While the local commission does afford an extra hour to fighters, Pereira did not continue his cut, and was fined 20% of his purse.
Official weigh-ins for the event took place Friday morning at the host hotel in Vancouver, with all fighters set to hit the scales. We’ll have the results as they happen! Weigh-ins get underway at 9AM PT (12PM ET).
